Ross McKenney College Woodsman 1953, “An American Profile”,
“A film profile of Ross McKenney which tells of his work with the Dartmouth Outing Club down through the years. In his early years Ross, a Maine guide and champion moose-caller, traveled with Teddy Roosevelt in a presidential campaign, opening rallies with the spine-tingling cry of the bull moose. He became “Dartmouth College Woodsman” in 1937, and since that time has taken countless Dartmouth men back to the wilderness and taught them how to live in it. He figures that a man who can take care of himself in the out-of-doors will be able to handle the problems which arise in other situations as well. The film shows Ross participating in Woodsman’s Weekend (which he founded), and instructing students in flycasting, wood chopping, and whitewater canoeing.”
