This 1950 episode of “Fashion Magic” hosted by Ilka Chase and sponsored by Playtex showcases various forms of clothing. It begins with one-size fits all clothing that can be adjusted to individual figure needs. This is followed by a musical interlude with Johnny Andrews playing piano and singing. The final segment of the show feature different suit models for women made by Italian-American designer Vincent Coppola. The episode also regularly features commercials for Playtex’s new girdle models.

Ilka Chase (1905 – 1978) was an American actress, radio host, and novelist. Vincent Coppola (1889-1984) was an Italian-American fashion designer. For more than 25 years, he was a partner in Deitsch, Wersba & Coppola, an apparel firm known for smart, expensive tailoring. Examples of his suits are in the costume collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
