Produced by William M. Pizor, who made a series of “Port O’ Call” travelogue films in the 1930s, “Celestial Venice” shows snapshots of Bangkok, Thailand including tourist sights and daily life. It begins with life on and around the Chao Phraya River and some market scenes. This is followed by a visit to the Pasture Institute in Bangkok, where snakes are researched for antivenoms. The rest of the film looks at different sights including the Grand Palace, Wat Benchamabophit, Wat Phra Kaew, Wat Pho, and Wat Arun.
