This 1982 Boy Scouts of America promotional film “To Tommy, With Love” looks at the benefits for young boys who join the Cub Scouts. It contrasts two children, Tommy and Billy. Billy is in the Cub Scouts and always polite, whereas Tommy is usually rude and in a bad mood because his dad is never home. Tommy is hit by a car and is sent to a hospital to recover where he is in a bed next to Billy. The two talk about the Cub Scouts as do the two children’s mothers. Tommy’s dad also comes to visit him and tells him that he used to be a Cub Scout himself. Tommy joins the Cub Scouts, does well, and is presented with his first merit badge at the end of the film.
