Released by Castle Films in 1941, this short movie “The Music Album / Songs to Remember” presents a series of “soundies” — the 1940s equivalent of music videos. It begins with the Men and Maids of Melody (also apparently sometimes called The Collegians) presenting a memorable version of the song “Take Me Out to the Ballgame”, including some rarely heard choruses. The film presents phoney “old time” footage of men wearing fake beards playing baseball. At (2:48) “The Sidewalks of New York” featuring vocalist Michael Bartlett in the role of a policeman. The reel ends with “In the Good Old Summertime” with the Men and Maids of Melody.
