This black-and-white, film noir style movie from the 1960s tells the story of a 15-year-old criminal, Warren, who is sent to the Rancho San Antonio Boys Home for court-ordered boys, after getting caught stealing from a liquor store. It promotes the methods of the home in the process of rehabilitating criminal adolescent boys. The film is narrated by John Dehner. Rancho San Antonio still exists today. It was actually founded in 1933 by the Catholic Big Brothers, in a rented home in Redondo Beach. In 1938 it moved to its permanent home in Chatsworth, CA. Since the 1950’s, the Knights of Columbus have provided most of the fundraising for Rancho San Antonio. The Rancho campus sits on 19 acres, and includes dormitories, dining hall, gymnasium, infirmary, recreation complex, football and baseball field, group home, career resource center, and administration building which currently provides service to 106 boys and their families.

The main character – a 16-year-old boy named Warren Crystal (01:14). The juvenile breaks the window of the liquor-store with a crowbar (01:37). The alarm is set off (01:43). He cut one of his wrists on the broken glass (01:45). He gets caught attempting to steal liquor bottles (02:01) and is arrested by a police officer (02:03). “Boy Wanted” title banner (02:10). Brother Marvin from the Rancho San Antonio Boys Home arrives at the police station to speak with Warren (02:23). He enters the interrogation room (02:51). In a Volkswagen Transporter, Brother Marvin is driving Warren to stay the home for court-ordered boys (03:27). Warren watches the landscapes through the window (03:48). They arrive at the Rancho San Antonio Boys Home (04:11). Warren is assigned a bed in a dormitory (04:34). Warren, and other boys in the home attend classes (04:48). The narrator introduced other residents of the home; first 15-year-old Martin Reed (05:09), then 14-year-old Samuel McGivney (05:22), and 16-year-old Frank Gonzales (05:32). The boys all eat in the dining hall (05:46). They play baseball and two boys start fighting (05:56). The coach curbs the fight, and the boys shake hands (06:00). The dormitory’s lounging room (06:13). Brother Marvin is eating dinner with the dormitory counselor while they talk about Warren (06:12). Warren meets with the counselor (06:57). Warren rides a horse and talks with the counselor (07:24). Slowly he confides the counselor and shares his story with her (08:09). Warren is participating in his class (08:56).
