This silent home movie takes a look into the personal life of Alfred Hitchcock; British film director and producer. His career spanned six decades as he directed at least 50 films. He is known to be one of the most influential figures of the history of cinema. The footage is of and filmed by Hitchcock as well as by his wife and collaborator Alma Reville, and includes shots in England as well as during a trip to Italy.

Pat Hitchcock opens the film next to Alma (:28). Pat is taken to the water as birds fly by (:38) at their home in Sussex. The Statue of Queen Victoria is pictured in Warrior Square, Hastings of East Sussex (58). Alma consoles Pat (2:23). Alfred is first pictured in thin rimmed glasses and a pin stripped suit (2:36). Alma plays a game of horse in the yard dressed similarly to Charlie Chaplin (3:02). Alfred is captured kicking his legs as he receives a smooch (4:00) from a woman with a banjo. Alma appears (5:06) and proceeds to kick him. Alma plays with Pat (5:26) as Alfred trots away holding the seat of his pants (5:30). Friends and family enjoy tea and pastry (6:41). Hitchcock rides a bike with little grace (7:08). He plays a game of tennis (7:25) at their Shamley Cottage home. They take to the sandy beach shore for recreation (10:39). Pat takes a splash (11:53). The family visits a dog kennel (12:13) as the child waves to puppies behind wire gates. Alfred plays catch with a black terrier (14:56). Alma pets a basket of puppies on the lawn (15:28). One of the furry babies tries to toe its way from the basket (15:47). Donald Calthrop of Hitchcock’s film ‘Blackmail’, plays with Pat (16:23). Alfred gives flowers to a friend (17:11). He adjusts his jacket near a well in his usual showy and theatrical manner (18:45). Alma dumps waste water from her window (19:25). Hitchcock directs Edna Clara Best (20:13) and stuffs her into the car (20:38). The outside of the Hitchcock Manse at Shamely Green appears at (21:47). Herbert Marshall makes faces at the camera (22:29). Alma tips her hat (22:42). Emma Jane Hitchcock; Alfred’s mother receives affection from a large dog (23:10). Alma and Alfred play with a group of pups (23:53). Herbert Marshall dances as paper airplanes are tossed at him (21:42). Hitchcock chases a stream of friends from their Shamely Cottage (21:49). Herbert makes faces at the camera (22:30). Alma tips her tiny hat (23:42). Alma drags up a bucket of water from the well (26:54). Three women stand with bouquets (27:26). Alma picks up their dog and runs towards the filmmaker (27:35). The family visits an old Blacksmith’s shop and wedding room in Gretna Green; a hot bed for runaway “I do’s” (27:53). A train steams by in the distance (28:11). Alma steps down from a large cruise liner with the assistance of sailors (29:51). The footage here appears to be from a research trip to South Africa (30:30). Alma is pictured sleepy on a cot on the ship (31:19). Ceremonial dances (31:41) delight spectators. They take a drive down the Promenade in France (33:16) as Hitchcock also visited France for research for another film. Alma walks through ruins of bombed out buildings (33:34). Pat runs down stone stairs (34:23). They capture the French countryside and mountain side from aboard a train (34:56). Pat and Alma take a gondola ride through Venice’s water canals (38:35). The Piazzetta is visited near the San Marco basin (40:13). Mother and daughter feed birds on the ground (40:22). The camera moves up the dome of the St. Mark’s basilica (40:54). The Saint Mark Clock Tower appears at (41:35) followed by the columns of San Marco and San Todaro (41:44). The basilica Santa Maria is pictured near the entry to the Great Canal (42:49). St. Mark’s square (43:27). The ‘bridge of straw’ in Venice is viewed from a boat on the waters (43:41). The fountain blows in the plaza of St. Peter’s Basilica (44:29). The arm of colonnade and the obelisk in Piazza San Pietro is captured at (45:21). The family of three takes a look out over the city (46:06). They pass Castel Sant’Angelo on the Tiber River (46:15). Another notable site they visit is the Trevi Fountain (46:29). Close shots (47:15) show stone faces spitting water. The film concludes as they explore Lacus Luturnae (47:22) with the Temple of Castor.
