XD52034 1947 HOME MOVIE TRIP TO PAKISTAN AND AFGHANISTAN TRAVELOG KARACHI PESHAWAR KABUL

This precious color, amateur home movie from 1947 chronicles a vacationer’s trip around Pakistan and neighboring Afghanistan. It was filmed by an unknown American traveler. The film chronicles a tour around prominent attractions and Pakistan’s main cities, scenes from nature along the Khyber Pass and Hindu Kush Mountains, as well as footage from Afghanistan. (It is noteworthy that the film is from 1947 as this is the year Pakistan’s history began. On 14 August 1947 the country came into being in the form of the Dominion of Pakistan within the British Commonwealth as the result of the Pakistan Movement and the partition of India. Afghanistan had been independent of India as a result of The Durand Line which was established in 1893. The line was slightly modified by the Anglo-Afghan Treaty of 1919 and was inherited by Pakistan after independence in 1947. Between 1944-1947 Afghanistan saw a period of unrest coined The Afghan Tribal Revolts or The Khost Disturbances by Zadran, Safi and Mangal tribesmen which lasted from February 1944 to January 1947.)
