XD51214 1959 ”SCHLEY RIDE THROUGH THE GULF COAST” NEW ORLEANS & MISSISSIPPI TRAVELOGUE

This travelogue is an episode from 1959 is from a series of travelogues titled “Picturelogues” by Norman E. Schley. Typically, Schley narrated these films himself, sometimes in person at live events. A tennis court is prepared for the Sugar Bowl Classic Week event, including sports such as football, basketball, regatta, tennis, etc. (01:13). A swimming pool and a golf course at the New Orleans Country Club (01:39). Final check of the tennis court (02:20) and the warms up begin between players (02:27). An audience watches the tennis match (03:03). The winner of the 1959 Sugar Bowl Tennis Classic is Gardnar Mulloy (03:12). More tennis matches are played (03:21). A black cat is laying on a forest floor (05:02). The journey continues to the City of Pass Christian, Mississippi (05:20). Visitors playing Shuffleboard on a court (06:10). Polished front laws decorate houses (06:21). A vacationer is challenged by his golf skills at the golf course (06:39). The Mississippi Gulf Coast concrete seawall (07:42). Children playing in the sand on the beach (08:03). The Gulfport at the city of Biloxi, Mississippi (08:10), with Mexican shrimp fishing vessels docking for the weekend (08:15). Retired warship docked at the Biloxi Gulfport (08:51) for scrapping. A fishing lodge from 1917 which has been transformed into an idyllic garden (09:01). A docked three mast schooner (09:32). Fort Macomb in New Orleans, Louisiana (10:01). “The End” (10:17).
