XD50424 1920s-1960s PEDAL CAR & PEDAL CAR AIRPLANE HOME MOVIES

This wonderful compilation of home movies featuring pedal cars and other wheeled wonders spans a few decades, from the late 1920s through the 1960s.

It starts in Mexico with a boy being pulled on a pony by a (rather bored looking) man in overalls. Likely late 1920s/early 1930s. At 1:19, the boy is seen again, this time in a cart that is pulled by a large dog. At 2:06 a class of Mexican children walk by, with their teacher up front. At 2:09 the boy is seen in a pedal car high wing airplane with “California” emblazoned on the side. (Probably inspired by the Ryan Spirit of St. Louis and Lindbergh.) At 2:37, amused Mexican performers watch the child in his plane. At 3:42, another child drives a second pedal car airplane.

At 3:50, likely 1950s footage, a boy pulls his brother’s push stoller with his trike. At 4:11, a boy sits in a yellow pedal car. At 4:23, children are seen in 1930s pedal car sedans that must have cost a fortune, including a two seater! At 4:50, an older boy in a Boy Scout uniform gets into a small pedal car roadster and tries to drive. At 5:11, a boy plays with a wooden biplane toy. At 5;25, a girl comes by on roller skates. At 5:36, a model plane is airborne (briefly). At 5:43, more pedal cars including one with a spare tire.

At 7:03, footage from the 1960s, a soap box derby type car whizzes down the street. There are three kids on it! Next, a contraption made out of wheeled lawn care tools and a lawn chair comes down the street. At 7:50, a “Super Sport” pedal car made by AMF is seen. At 8:20, two little girls push a Super Sport. At 8:24, a boy rides a miniature tractor on the lawn. At 8:37, 1940s footage of a boy pulling a Fisher Price toy behind his streamlined pedal car. At 9:02, a toddler attempts to drive a small cart while his brother drives around in circles. At 9:43, kids show off a locomotive and train that they’ve apparently made using a barrel and Radio Flyer type wagons.
