This 1960s color film (Part 2 of 4) created by Wisconsin filmmaker Norman E. Schley offers a travelogue view of Ireland, with music and SFX sans narration, which was intended to be provided during in-person screenings by the touring filmmaker himself. Irish architectural landmarks, natural features, and cultural activities of Kilkenny, Waterford, Tipperary, Barleycove, Clonmel, Cork, and Blarney are depicted (TRT: 19:01).

Boys at a Catholic school. A headmaster welcomes them indoors (0:08). Families flock to the Gothic Revival style Church of St. John the Evangelist (0:59). Men loiter outside O’Gorman’s pub (1:19). A map indicates County Waterford with wine glasses. Harp music. A zoom from green highlands into Saint Declan’s Graveyard in Ardmore, aka Round Tower Cemetery. Schley strolls through overgrown plots. An Irish donkey grazes as an automobile passes (1:37). The Comeragh Mountains. Coumshingaum Lough, a scenic lake (2:43). A residential area. Mothers, grandmothers, and children. In addition to making travelogue films, Norman Schley was an accountant, insurance salesman, and the proprietor of three camera shops in Waukesha, WI. He founded his vacation film industry “Picturelogue, Inc.” with the creation of “Schley Ride to Florida” in 1943, and continued making vacation films for three decades.
