Dating to 1966 and possibly earlier, this prototypical Marlboro TV commercial introduces the new Marlboro Menthol Green cigarettes and the jingle “Ride with the flavor that won the West” and ends with Elmer Bernstein’s theme from “The Magnificent Seven”. The Marlboro Man ad campaign, handled by Chicago advertiser Leo Burnett, was one of the most successful in world history. Because this commercial predates the modern era, no cancer or health warning accompanies the ad. Because of their addictive nature and health effects, menthol cigarettes have recently been banned in several countries, including Brazil, Canada, Ethiopia, Turkey, Moldova, the European Union, the United Kingdom and the US state of Massachusetts.
