This late 1920s / early 1930s silent film was produced by Cine Art, and is from a genre known as the “nudie cutie”. These titillating films were supposedly made for aspiring artists (who could not afford life models for their studios) to get a look at the bare human form in motion. Of course, most of the customers who bought these films were not artists! The first part of this “art study” film looks at a woman going through different motions repeatedly which she then later does in the buff, while artists paint her. It then shows a woman on the beach doing gymnastics motions. It ends with the “Featurette” which looks at a short story of a man and woman falling for each other after they both find each other naked in the woods and look for the woman’s clothes, which have hilariously been stolen by an amateur detective.
