This 1960s television commercial for Tootsie Rolls uses the premise of a kid at a Saturday matinee at the movies, to prove the tagline “Tootsie Roll Lasts a Long Time.” Tootsie Roll is a chocolate-flavored taffy-like penny candy that has been manufactured in the USA since 1907. The candy has qualities similar to both caramels and taffy without being exactly either confection. The manufacturer, Tootsie Roll Industries, is based in Chicago, Illinois and makes approximately 64 million Tootsie Rolls daily.
