Dating to the 1970s, this anti-smoking ad from the American Lung Association features an African American man who is a chain smoker. “How about you? For your health and well being…kick the habit and join the unhooked generation. It’s a matter of life and breath.”

Founded in 1904 to fight tuberculosis, the American Lung Association is a voluntary health organization whose mission is to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through education, advocacy and research.
