The Great Salt Lake is an episode of the TV program titled “Discovery” released in 1969. This program aired on ABC from 1962 until 1971 as an award-winning children’s show about the history and culture of America. This episode covers the Great Salt Lake in the state of Utah, the largest saltwater lake in the Western Hemisphere, its wildlife, and the pioneer’s history in the area around the lake and Salt Lake City, including the “This Is the Place” monument and heritage park. The film is a Jules Power production in association with ABC News, hosted by Bill Owen, written by Ronald Liss, directed by Vincent Scarza photographed by John Burke, edited by Kenneth Wagner, and produced in consultation with the NEA in cooperation with the American Library Association.
