Running Time: 27 mins. Color.
Traces the black experience in America from the American Revolution (and the first rebel casualty, a black man) forward to the dream of Martin Luther King, Jr. to be “free at last.” Scene after scene documents the blacks’ intense participation in American life, to vital role they have played in the nation’s growth, and their contribution in every area of society. Includes a look at the Boston Massacre and Crispus Attucks, the American Revolution, Civil War and its Black regiments, WWI and World War II, and how the experience of the Black soldier did little to improve the situation at home. Many important leadership roles including political, judicial held by Afro-Americans are highlighted and the Civil Rights struggle described.
