This black & white promotional film dates to the early era of television and station KCOP-TV in Hollywood, California. The film shows the station’s capabilities and gives an idea what is available for commercial clients, including new sound stages at the facility located at 915 N. La Brea Ave. The bit is hosted by Peter Hansen, a WWII veteran who was a working television actor and commercial spokesman, who also briefly served as the station’s news anchor in the early 1960s.

Channel 13 first signed on the air in 1948 as KLAC-TV (standing for Los Angeles, California), and adopted the moniker “Lucky 13”. In late 1953, the now-defunct Copley Press purchased KLAC-TV and changed its call letters to KCOP, which reflected their ownership. A Bing Crosby-led group purchased the station in 1957.
