This black & white educational film is about the Swiss Riviera, Lake of Geneva, and was funded by a Swiss chamber of commerce. It was produced by Maurice T. Groen, shot by Austen West and Earl Brink, and narrated by Peter Allen. Lake Geneva (or Lac Léman) is a crescent-shaped lake shared between France and Switzerland, and overlooked by the Alps. Geneva, the Swiss city at its southern tip, is a diplomatic hub with luxury shops and a cobbled old town. On the southern, French side, is the spa town and resort of Évian-les-Bains. The chic, palm-studded Swiss Riviera stretches along the north shore from Lausanne to Montreux. Copyright is circa the 1950s.

Opening titles: The Swiss Riviera, Lake of Geneva (:08-:41). The Valais, a sidewheel passenger ship, cruises the glamorous Swiss Riviera, Lake Geneva. Hotels line the shores. People relax and sit on chairs near the lake. Lakeside resorts. A woman with a towel. People talk on the grass. Two women watch a boat on the water (:42-2:18). Castle of Chillon where Lord Byron’s name can still be seen there in the dungeon stone. Swiss resort town of Montreux. Marketplace outside in the town square. People sell their wares and food. Women smell flowers. An open air market (2:49). A woman eats and winks at the camera (2:19-3:34). Women walk near trees and bushes. Snow capped mountains. Towns are situated in the mountains. Lush green trees and hillsides. Travel posters. Women and men play golf. A funicular railway is seen at Lyon (3:39). Some play tennis (3:35-4:53). Swimming pool. People ride horses near a lake. Mountains and hills. Ski resort of Les Diablerets (4:08). Chesières (4:21). Game of golf (4:37) and tennis (4:51). In wine country, a man sprays for insects (5:39). A group of women and men sing in a choir (6:00). Town of Lausanne. Women sit on a boat dock with a dog. People ride on a sailboat. People walk around the city. A traffic officer directs thing. St. Francis Square. Church (4:54-7:12). University, women leave class. Swimming pool. People in a wave pool. Lausanne’s port. Swans in the lake. Town of Geneva. Cafe dining outside. “City of Youth” is what some call Geneva. Olympic model swimming pool (7:33). Lake Geneva. A couple walks down the street. People window shop. Jewelry shop filled with Swiss clocks (8:57). Great craftsmanship at these shops. Statues (7:13-9:21). Church. Wall of Remembrance. People look down from a scenic overlook. Aerial shot of Lake Geneva (9:22-10:05). End credits (10:06-10:16).
