XD12964 1979 CHEVROLET CAPRICE & IMPALA, MONTE CARLO & SUBURBAN PROMO FILM

There are three color promotional films about the new Chevy products. The first is about the new line of 1979 Caprice & Impalas (and was made in 1978). The second is presenting the 1979 Monte Carlo (and was made in 1978). The third is about the 1979 Chevy Suburban (and was made in 1978).

Title: REASONS TO BUY 1979 CAPRICE AND IMPALA (:08-:17). A couple walks out to the new Chevy Caprice Classic. The new Popular 2 door Impala drives on a highway. The Caprice Classic sits in a driveway of a fancy home. Close on the new grill, tail lights, wheel covers, the body. Inside the interior of the car. The 1979 Caprice drives. A woman gets out of the car. A woman puts groceries away in it

(:18-1:37). The new Caprice Classic Station Wagon drives near water. Interior of the car and the room for people to sit. Storage space is shown. A guy loads it with fishing equipment. A boy put valuables in the car. More interior of the car followed by men putting the car together on the assembly line. A businessman drives along. The body of the car is put in special liquids to preserve the car’s appearance (1:38-3:07). Two men who are testing the Caprice put rubber balls in water attached to the hood, on the seat, and on the wheels. The wheels move and shake but the rest do not. Under the car is shown in motion and we get a look at the suspension. Close on the tires as they drive. Close on the engine. Long recommended maintenance intervals are shown on the screen and explained(3:08-4:09). Comfort tilt steering is a new option, as is split seats, power windows and door locks, a new am/fm radio with cassette playback. Shots of the car driving and people driving the car. The car sits with the door open waiting for a driver (4:10-5:09). End disclaimer (5:10-5:17).

Title: REASONS TO BUY 1979 MONTE CARLO (5:33-5:42). The Monte Carlo drives on a road. Different shots of it moving from many angles. The car parks. A man opens the door for his woman. The cars drives (5:43-6:26). A different type of the Monte Carlo – the Landau, shots of the car, the body, the doors, the wheels, steering wheels, power brakes, sport mirrors (6:27-7:06). Monte Carlo drives fast. It has a body by Fisher. How the car is made on the assembly line is shown. The car weaves through traffic cones. Close on the suspension and the tires. The car goes through a cone obstacle course. Close and explanations of the engines. Long recommended maintenance intervals are shown on the screen and explained (7:07-8:33). The Monte Carlo is shown getting primer and wax sprays on the assembly line. Close on the finished trunk. The car drives along. Close on the seats, clock in the dashboard, other features are shown. 3 people pack the trunk to show how big it is. A woman enters the passenger seat. A woman sits in the backseat. A man gets in the drivers seat (8:34-9:59). Other options include: power seats, power windows and door locks, steering wheel that tilts, sound system, remove glass roof panels, AC and more. The car drives down the road The car sits with the door open waiting for a driver (10:00-10:51). End disclaimer (10:52-10:59).

Titles: Chevy Trucks. 1979 Chevy Suburban (11:23-11:38). The Chevy Suburban drives down a dirt road. A test is being conducted: rubber balls in a can attached to the side of the hood and on the wheels. The wheels move and shake but the rest do not. Under the car suspension shots. The body is shown with just the suspension. Full foam seats are shown separate. A suburban drives through water and mud (11:39-12:53). The truck being built on the assembly line is shown. The body is submerged in primer. Enamel is applied. Wax is sprayed into the doors. The suburban drives down a road. A diagram shows parts of the truck. The truck drives. Information on the engine (12:54-14:22). Special features of the truck are shown: comfort tilt steering, Air conditioning, cruise control. A little league teem enters the truck. 2 men move an optional seat. The truck tows a trailer. The truck speeds along a dirt road (14:23-15:35). Chevy gold logo followed by an end disclaimer (15:36-15:47).
