XD11334 “BLAST FURNACE” 1949 BRITISH EDUCATIONAL FILM SMELTING IRON METAL PROCESSING

This 1949 educational film looks at the process of iron smelting in a blast furnace. The film begins by explaining the different elements of an iron plant, with a detailed diagram with animations of how it works. This is followed by shots of the materials needed for smelting. The animation then continues by showing what happens to the ingredients once they are thrown into the furnace. The final part of the film shows how workers tap the furnace to release slag and iron, and how this iron is molded and cooled down.
