His successor, Harold Macmillan stands near him. Title: New Country Born Ghana. Soldiers march in Ghana. Citizens celebrate their status as a new country. A beauty contest to crown Miss Ghana. Title: The Mayflower II. Built in England, the ship sailed across the Atlantic, a blimp flies above it. The ship went to Plymouth, MA and then to NYC. A man is dressed like a pilgrim, another like a Native American (:17-2:23). Title: Canada Hails Queen. A mountie salutes. Queen Elizabeth visited North America for the first time. Title: Washington, D.C. The United States welcomed the Queen as well. A large crowd is there to see the Queen. Title: New York, NY. Many boats greet the arrival of the Queen. Tugboats shoot off water through their hoses. The Statue of Liberty is in the background. A blimp is overhead as the Queen sees NYC from a boat. A ticker tape parade for the Queen as she goes down the streets of NYC to large crowds and welcoming cheers. Her car stops and she exits. Title: Mid-East Tension Damascus. People on the streets and in wagons. A coup in Syria. A military man is next to a guerrilla who checks his rifle. Men piece together rifles. Women select rifles from a pile. Men practice shooting at a range. Women shed the traditional garb and march dressed in fatigues. Title: Turkey. Turkey’s President watched military maneuvers from a U.S. ship. Title: Cairo, Egypt. Syria’s President Shukri al-Quwatli arrives in Egypt to see a medical specialist. He walks along with Egypt President Gamal Nasser. Egypt’s army is on parade. Tanks are shown, Russian officers watch the festivities. President Eisenhower of the U.S. speaks about the situation (2:23-5:19). Title: Kremlin Shake-up. Stalin waving. Russian people wave. Military men salute. Title: Sputnik. People look at the sky with binoculars. Men study a map. Their fingers point on it. Men look into telescopes. Sputnik flies around the earth. Title: New Era Begins. A parachute. Men on a truck set off a rocket on a balloon. A man looks skyward. Machines. A rocket is launched from the balloon 19 miles above the earth. The rocket takes off. Men watch with binoculars. Cylinder being built. A satellite is being made. Animation of a satellite with a rocket. A rocket blasts off from a launch pad. Animation shows the rocket take off and then break apart in smaller pieces before releasing a satellite into space (5:20-8:09) End Credits (8:10-8:14).
