This 1960s era, color film explains, in detail, how air conditioners and refrigerators work. The film explains convection, compressors, condensers and cooling systems. The film opens with two boys walking down the road and up the walkway to a house. The boys are returning from playing baseball. An air conditioner is seen 1:00. The refrigerator in the kitchen is seen 1:10. The boys pour cold lemonade 1:23. A model of the refrigerator is shown and we see the condenser, the compressor and the cooling coils. Liquid flows through the coils 2:02. A woman uses water to prevent wrinkling while she is ironing 2:20. Rubbing alcohol is applied to somebody’s shoulder to illustrate how the alcohol absorbs heat from the skin 3:10. A vacuum sealed canister of Freon is shown 3:21. The Freon is poured into a test tube and the liquid changes to a gas almost immediately 3:28. In the animated diagram we see how a refrigerator works 4:20. A gas refrigerator is shown 5:08.
