JC10254b 1980’S SUZUKI MOTORCYCLES PROMOTIONAL FILM “THE LITTLE RACERS” SADDLEBACK PARK MOTOCROSS

This Suzuki motorcycles advertising film shows motocross racing in the 80’s through a narrative about a young all star athlete named Scott Brown. It was shot at the famed Saddleback Park racetrack. The film was sent to Suzuki motorcycle dealerships to be used as an in-house commercial. A montages opens the film of various little league sports (:10). Scott is pictured with his grandfather (:27). Scott was born with a hole in his heart (:39). His parents decided to encourage the boy to play sports and live his fullest life in spite of his ailments (:56). This decision paid off and Scott’s condition improved (1:41). Youth are then pictured Suzuki RM’s at the starting line for a mini motocross race (1:56). Scott explains motocross is his favorite (2:01). Both parents are heavily involved in motocross (2:29). The boy is considerably talent in all sports (3:13). Motocross is considered to be one of the most strenuous sports (3:37). Scott’s exercise and education routine are looked to (3:50). Scott is viewed riding the track at the halfway mark of the race (4:06). Scott took first place at the Indian Dunes opener (4:56), though he suffered injuries the flowing week at Verona Oaks (5:01). Racers take their start at Orange County International Raceway (5:05). Saddleback Park was to be the final test grounds (5:14). Scott is shown entering into the Pee-wee class; where most riders get their start at (5:19). A young boy hops off his bike to enter a portable toilet (5:37). Scott’s father states they had begun by taking the boy to races (6:26). He got his first start on a bike at the age of five. Scott takes first place (7:41). Scott takes a tumble while rounding a bend and is quick to set himself back onto the bike (8:24). The final race takes off at Saddleback Park (8:52). The father discusses leaving the Marine Corps to follow his son’s career (10:04). Scoot is declared the winner of the overall 83CC title in the fall series (11:11). The boy takes his trophy (11:16). The film was produced by Peter W. Silver (11:49).

For an entire generation of riders, the name Saddleback meant motocross. Located off Santiago Canyon Road in Orange, California, the track was one of the most prominent. It closed in 1984. Today, due to development, Saddleback Park remains but little remains of the track.
