During the sixth season of “Here’s Lucy”, Lucille Ball, Gale, and Lucy Carter filmed a special segment for the United States Department of Treasury. This was to promote the U.S. Savings Bond program’s payroll savings plan. This segment, which ran half the length of a typical Here’s Lucy installment, featured the cast in character on the Unique Employment Agency set. It was written by series staff writer Bob O’Brien. Much of the comedy material was utilized in regular Here’s Lucy episodes, most notably the exchange between Lucy and Harry whether his name Harrison is spelled with one “R” or two. This bit was later used in “Lucy Carter Meets Lucille Ball.” In a complete departure from a usual Lucy episode, there was no live studio audience or laugh track!
