Universe combines breathtaking deep space photography with painstakingly hand-drawn animation to create a mind-bending journey through space and time. What is a supernova? How are black holes formed? And could there be life on other planets? Learn all this and more in this acclaimed film, which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Short in 1977. Shatner recorded his voiceover during the hiatus between Star Trek: The Original Series (1966-1969) and Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979). Director Lester Novros worked on the iconic “Night on Bald Mountain” sequence of Walt Disney’s Fantasia (1940).
