GG1971 ” Cosmic Rays ” 1960 Educational Astrophysics Film in ‘Planet Earth’ Series FT Cosmic Rays

“Planet Earth Series”, “Cosmic Rays”, “Planet Earth: Cosmic Rays”, National Academy of Sciences Presents,

“Cosmic Rays deals with the mysterious radiations observed on Earth and first identified early in this century as a phenomenon originating in outer space. The purpose of the film is to relate the study of these cosmic rays to other areas of scientific research, especially in the fields of atomic and nuclear physics, to suggest the deductive process by which they were discovered, to present some current concepts of their origin, to show how they are measured”

“This film is one of a series of thirteen dealing with man’s total physical environment, from the core of the Earth to cosmic space. Prepared and produced by the National Academy of Sciences, the series shows how man has gained insight into Nature by exploring his planet and its surroundings. Each film is complete in itself, providing a rounded view of one of the major fields of geophysics. In general, after a short introductory sequence which seeks to stimulate curiosity about the subject and often to raise a few key quests, the films, as appropriate, touch upon ancient superstitions and ideas”
