“She will best be remembered for her television program at KTPS called ‘Kindergarten at Cholla’s Corner.’ She and Cholla (a Chihuahua), visited classrooms across the Tacoma district and televised weekly programs for young children. She was Director of Early Childhood Education for Tacoma Schools, taught at PLU and UPS, and started the first Head Start in Tacoma. She was also named Washington State Teacher of the Year in 1966”
