200′, color (faded) home movie, starts with scenes in Marine City, Michigan that were apparently shot in 1938. Also includes footage shot at the 1936-37 Great Lakes Exposition including nice shots of the bandshell (which looks like Hollywood Bowl) and close footage of performers doing acrobatic stunts and dancing inside a large hall. The film ends with footage of a parade, presumably in Marine City. Very well shot footage.
The Great Lakes Exposition was a large exhibition held in Cleveland, Ohio, during the summers of 1936 and 1937. It aimed to celebrate Cleveland’s centennial, showcase the progress of the Great Lakes region, and boost the city’s economy during the Great Depression. The exposition, which drew over 7 million visitors, featured various attractions, including rides, sideshows, and exhibits highlighting local industries and international cultures.
