“One Who Came Back”, B&W, 15 minutes. This is a 1951 American short documentary film produced by Owen Crump and the National Organization of Disabled American Veterans in cooperation with the United States Department of Defense and the Association of Motion Picture Producers, about an American soldier wounded in the Korean War, rescued from behind enemy lines and transported back to the United States. It was distributed by all film companies free of charge. It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Short.
Alternate description: This film tells about Operation Lifeline which evacuated wounded soldiers from Korea. Told from the point of view of George Kritzman (one of the wounded soldiers), the film shows the operation on his leg at one of the mobile army surgical hospitals (MASH), his plane transfers from Tokyo, Honolulu, and San Francisco, and the medical care that he and many other soldiers received. The film was sponsored by Disabled American Veterans and the U.S. Treasury Department and produced by Owen Crump.
