Cotton, wool and silk are natural fibres, although grown in different ways; synthetic fibres such as rayon and nylon are created by chemical processes. However, all can be woven into cloth on power looms or knitting machines, and the fabric produced can be used for flameproof firemens’ suits, seat belts and parachutes as well as common articles like clothing, rugs, towels.
