“EBF Films”, “Are Manners Important”, 1954
“The actions and experiences of a thoughtless elementary school boy who maintains that “kids don’t care about manners” provide a basis for discussing the importance of manners. “
“Mickey comes out of his daydream as one of his classmates passes by. Mickey stops him and apologizes for breaking into the football game that morning. The film asks the audience to discuss whether Mickey is likely to change his attitude about manners, then raises a series of other questsion: Do manners really start with consideration for others? What about matters of custom and tradition? Do good table manners actually make mealtime more pleasant for everyone? The film ends by specifically posing the question–‘Are manners important?'”
