“The March of Time – Ireland” (1945) is a black-and-white educational short film made as part of Time Inc.’s American newsreel series March of Time. March of Time was shown in movie theaters from 1935 to 1951 and was based on a radio news series broadcast from 1931 to 1945 that was produced by advertising agency Batten, Barton, Durstine & Osborn. Through a montage of rich archival footage, this particular film from the series examines Ireland (Eire) and Northern Ireland, at the end of World War II, specifically highlighting economic programs and modernization in the Republic of Ireland.
