The Royal couple walks down a walkway exiting a plane and is greeted by President Harry Truman. Princess Elizabeth walks by people. Title: Britain Goes Conservative. People await election results at Trafalgar Square in London at night. Vote tallies on a screen. Crowd cheers. Winston Churchill wins and becomes Prime Minister for a second time (:16-1:42). Title: Crisis in Iran. Iran’s location on the world map. The Iranian government seizes oil industry operated by the British. Men turn an oil pipeline valve. Men try and rip down an Iranian sign. Ships at sea. U.S. Envoy W. Averill Harriman tries to keep the peace. He meets with representatives from both sides. Iranian students run down the cit streets, people on horseback try and control the crowd. At a Security Council meeting, Prime Minister of Iran, Mohammad Mossadegh defends the Iranian seizure (1:43-2:55). Title: Midwest Flood Disaster. A million acres are flooded in parts of Kansas and Missouri. Bridge is loose on the water. People carry luggage and fall in the flood waters. People trudge through high waters. 750,000 people are homeless or displaced. Flood waters move fast, fires rage. Title: Spectacular Auto Crack-up! In Langhorne, PA, cars in a race. A car crashes on a turn, spectators stand and watch. Another car crashes into the already damaged car. A damaged car catches on fire and the drive gets out in the nick of time. Other cars crash behind the one on fire and a huge pileup occurs (2:56-4:54). Title: Kefauver Crime Probe! Former New York Mayor William O’Dwyer faces a senate probe. O’Dwyer had associations with organized crime figures. O’Dwyer speaks to the committee. Frank Costello, crime boss for the Luciano crime family, isn’t talking. Virginia Hill, mob associate and best known as Bugsy Siegel’s girlfriend, is questioned. Frank Erickson is cross examined (4:55-5:52). Title: Japanese Peace Treaty Signed. President of the U.S., President Truman opens the meeting in San Francisco. Dean Acheson, secretary of state, signs for the U.S. Premier Yoshida signs for Japan. Title: Battle for Korea! Truce talks between the Reds and the United Nations. Communist North Korean troops walk. Americans walk. A battle for Heartbreak Ridge. Tanks fire. The Battle of Heartbreak Ridge, also known as the Battle of Wendengli, was a month-long battle in the Korean War which took place between September 13 and October 15, 1951. Artillery shells, artillery fires. Battle weary troops. U.S. Marines arrive by helicopter. Marines take cover as fighting continues. B-26 Invader bombers drop numerous bombs from the sky. Aerial POV shots of shooting at targets below. Nighttime fighting. Numerous rockets fired at enemy targets (5:53-8:37). End credits (8:38-8:40).
