This NASA film, made before the Apollo 11 mission, shows the testing of various spacecraft components, starting with mock-ups of the various systems including parachutes, escape systems, and the command module, service module, and lunar module themselves. Prototypes of various modules are shown being launched into space, their engines tested, and re-entry shields demonstrated. At the 2:23 mark, a prototype of the Lunar Module is seen being tested. The actual modules are seen being built at the 2:30 mark, with continuous testing during manufacture, system assembly, and installation. Mainframe computers are seen being used to check system operation. The Manned Spacecraft Operation Building at Cape Kennedy is seen at the 3:40 mark, with the separate modules joined together in a vacuum chamber and further tests conducted.
