This is a 1950s era promotional movie about a trip on Burlington’s Denver Zephyr (see below for more on this train). The film starts in the Dodds home, as Mr. Dodds shows a home movie of their fabulous train trip West! Then the home movie transitions to a polished, Hollywood-style travelogue. In it we accompany the Dodds as they board the train in Chicago for their vacation in Colorado. We are taken on a tour of the train and its unique decor as well as the scenery as seen from the dome cars. There’s also extensive coverage of various parks and other sites in Colorado, including Estes Park and several grand hotels, Pikes Peak, and rides on various vehicles from buses to cable cars. This is a great period film about a magnificent train!
