This film from NASA documents preparations for the Gemini X mission, which launched on July 18, 1966. (TRT 4:47) Gemini 10 (officially Gemini X) was the 8th crewed Gemini flight, with astronauts John Young and Michael Collins. Its primary purpose was to conduct rendezvous and docking tests with the Agena Target Vehicle (ATV), and EVA.

Gemini mission blasts off. (0:06). Narrator: “This is a test program.” The lunar landing research vehicle is shown in flight (0:25). The North American X-15, tail number 66670 (0:30). Gemini IX floats down in a parachute. “A test program into the unknown” (0:37). The Gemini X, with Command Pilots John Young and Michael Collins on the Gemini X (0:44). The surface of the earth. An experiment intends to study complex weather developments (1:09). A still camera, a Maurer 70mm, used for the synoptic weather photography experiment, which intended to capture views of different cloud systems (1:19). Docking in space. The Gemini X will dock with the Agena Target Vehicle (ATV). (1:33). “The Gemini X will also seek to rendezvous with the passive Agena, left in space after the mission of Gemini VIII.” A view of the Agena (1:50). A Gemini procedure simulator demonstrates docking (2:10). Astronauts in a classroom study space flight dynamics ( (2:33). Michael Collins in zero G, preparing for his space walk (2:40). A man sits at a the biomedical console in the mission control center. (3:25). Bio-sensors are attached to the body of the astronaut (3:34). Spacecraft designers work on flight hardware, constructing Gemini X (3:54). The Gemini X is wrapped and transported to the Cape Kennedy Launch Facility. “Lifted and joined to the launch vehicle, it stands ready.” (4:22).
