Dating to 1936, this fascinating 16mm silent home movie shows a convention of fire fighters meeting up to practice their techniques, and compete against one another. The film begins with a massive assembly complete with Nazi era flags, before getting to a series of contests that include moving fire fighting apparatus, placing hoses, moving dummies while wearing gas masks, etc. The film ends with a huge parade through city streets, complete with a Nazi salute by a person who might be Hitler but probably isn’t — hard to see in the footage.
