This vintage travelogue film takes viewers to Germany. The script was written by Valerie Moolman (:14); an American novelist. The film was produced by DPM Production of New York City, New York (:23). It was released by Films of the Nations Distributions (:30). The trip begins at New York International Airport (:41) with a Scandinavian passenger plane (:51). A map notes the plane’s route as passenger‘s sleep (1:48). Aerial views are captured of the city (2:03). The plane arrive in Hamburg, Germany (2:23). The Alte Oberpostdirektion at Stephansplatz appears (2:39). Hamburg is situated on the banks of the Elbe. City buildings line the Reeperbahn; the main drag (2:50). Alster Lake hugs the city (3:05). A traffic cop guides pedestrians and vehicles (3:15). A woman in white passes Lake Alster dotted with sailboats (3:30). Hamburg harbor is set on the Elbe filled with ocean liners, freighters and pleasure boats (3:39). The city of Lubeck (4:09) displays early German architecture (4:14). Lubeck City Hall dates prior to the 12th century (4:08). The Cathedral is situated nearby (4:22). Travemunde; a Baltic resort set on the Trave River draws tourists in annually (4:32). Casino Travemunde (4:36). Guests enjoy a sea foamed and white sail boat view from under casino umbrellas (4:54). Autobahns run parallel (5:41). The route heads for Dusseldorf (5:46). Tables are set under umbrellas on the outskirts of Dusseldorf, again, watching the waters (6:50). The Cologne Cathedral (6:55) rises in the center screen. Bonn is situated on the Rhine River (7:02). It is mentioned that Beethoven was born here (7:16) as the Rhine and the Seven Mountains are pictured. The mountains, a pair of cyclists and a steamer on the Rhine follow (7:30). Koblenz is known as the wine city of Germany (8:21). A steam boat runs through a junction of the Rhine and the Moselle (8:43). Close images show ripe grapes clipped for the famed Moselle wine (9:10). Vineyard workers carry heavy baskets to vats (9:24). The Hostile Brothers (10:23); twin castles called Burg Sterrenberg and Burg Liebenstein are mentioned. Marksburg Castle (10:29) stands atop a high cliff. The town of Kalbe is a small town near the end of the Rhine (11:16). Marburg Germany (11:30) is home to Phillips University founded in 1527. A farmer piles hay atop a cart in the Black Forest region (12:00). A view is captured from the streets of the Gengenbach region (12:40). German’s dance on a stage lined with locals (12:48). An old time pharmacy stands in the Market Square (13:16) of Rosenborg as locals partake in an annual pageant known as The Master Drink. They perform the Dance of the Shepard’s (13:31) honoring the Thirty Years War. The Baker’s Festival (14:10) follows. An annual soccer game is enjoyed (14:37). Another map notes the route of the second half of the trip (14:51). A single white sailboat appears on Lake Constance (15:42). A lush courtyard lines the banks (15:57). A waiter holds a tray of elegant desert dishes (16:07). A statue stands erect in front of the Stadtmusem in Lindau (16:23). Lindau harbor follows with the Lindau Lighthouse (16:38). The camera pans over the city comprised of architecture reminiscent of the Middle Ages (16:49). Bathers play in the waters (17:13). A woman views the Bavarian Alps (17:40). A man guides his oxen and cart over cobblestone streets of the Fussen Village Square (17:51). The Royal Castle of Neuschwanstein appears tucked above lush trees (18:09). Hohenschwangau Castle follows (18:24). The stunning Centre of Oberammergou hosts the world’s famous ‘Passion Play’ (18:37). One of the villagers is pictured in intricate costume (18:47). A sign guides travelers to the Hotel Café of Alois Lang (19:01). The hotel (19:09) and it’s owner appear (19:14). Garmisch-Partenkirchen appears lined by the Zugspitze (19:39). The 1936 Olympics were hosted here (19:44). An elevator takes tourists up the mount (19:54). A scenic trip on the Konigssee (20:17) pass by the St. Bartholomew’s Chapel (20:32). The city of Berchtesgaden appears (21:01). Germans wears traditional attire (21:12). Local attire and dance is captured in Bad Reichenhall (22:06). Munich during Oktoberfest (23:19). City Hall appears (24:09).
