This short newsreel from the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture shows the Pacific Fruit Express train, which uses refrigerated freight cars to quickly move produce across the United States. A humping yard is shown at 1:55 where trains are built up. At 2:00, ice is moved into position to load into the train cars to protect the perishable cargo. The ice is moved by hand. At 3:20 the fast freight arrives in New York City. At 3:35, barges are used to move the freight cars across the Hudson River to New York, where they are unloaded. At 4:23, the film shows how DDT is being used on the timberlands of Idaho against moth pests. At 4:55, DDT is moved from railroad cars to trucks, and the DDT is loaded aboard aircraft at 5:20 to be sprayed over the forest. The film ends with a segment about a glider pilot at 7:00 at Elmira, New York. Elmira is now home of the National Soaring Museum.
