This silent Castle Films travelogue includes images from Thailand, Burma and possibly Cambodia in the 1950s. Castle Films were sold for the home market, and like National Geographic in this era had a special appeal — featuring images of bare chested women at the 2:45 mark and following. Elephants are seen at the 4 minute mark. The collection of natural rubber is seen at the 5:30 mark, and tea at the 6 minute mark. Primitive pumps powered by human labor are seen at the 6:45 mark. Grain is harvested at the 8 minute mark. Hindu fakir is seen at the 9:30 mark and a Hindu burial as well.
Hinduism in Southeast Asia gave birth to the former Champa civilisation in southern parts of Central Vietnam, Funan in Cambodia, the Khmer Empire in Indochina, Langkasuka Kingdom, Gangga Negara and Old Kedah in the Malay Peninsula, the Sriwijayan kingdom on Sumatra, the Singosari kingdom and the Majapahit Empire based in Java, Bali, and parts of the Philippine archipelago. The civilisation of India influenced the languages, scripts, calendars, and artistic aspects of these peoples and nations.
