83454a 1967 VIETNAM WAR RAW FOOTAGE BELL UH-1 HELICOPTERS JUNGLE PATROL FIELD HOSPITAL

This color film is raw footage shot in the jungles of Vietnam, and includes various segments including shots at a field hospital, a fire base, a jungle patrol, and a riverine patrol. This footage is from September of 1967 (slate at 7:20 / 9:25 says 28 of September, another at 16:13 says 27 of September and says the cameraman is Kalsey).

Opening: A patient is being worked on, on a operating table inside a quonset hut. The patient is covered by surgeons standing and cannot really be seen. The person is worked on and then slowly moved on a makeshift gurney (:06-1:50). A mechanic works on a helicopter rotor. Mechanics work on a helicopter, appears to be an Bell AH-1 Cobra (1:51-3:02). Soldiers at a fire base stand near a brand new howitzer artillery gun. They look at the gun. A gun is lowered by cranking it. Men pull out a bore cleaner from the gun barrel. Soldiers walk around the base (3:03-5:31). The men work on an artillery gun as they wear helmets. A soldier wipes his forehead as the sun beats down (5:32-7:16). APCs and helicopters in a clearing. Troops move cargo. A Bell UH-1 Huey takes off. APC goes through high brush. Soldiers on patrol in the jungle. A jet aircraft flies by quickly and drops bombs at 8:20. Another plane flies by followed by another. Smoke plumes in the distance (7:17-9:00). Soldiers with their helmets. Soldiers walk around, pick up items. Soldiers in the brush. Carrying rifles, soldiers move slowly (9:01-10:29). Soldiers smoke cigarettes and stand around. Soldiers walk. A large group of UH-1 Huey helicopters land (11:18). Soldiers board and the choppers take off. An injured soldier is brought to another helicopter (10:30-12:00). Soldiers sit and watch as APC moves. APCs on the move through high brush and trees. An APC goes up a hillside. An APC on a dirt road (12:01-13:22). Vietnamese civilians wave and salute American troops. Soldiers walk near tall trees in the brush. Explosions go off behind them. A soldier radios in. Soldiers fire rifles and rockets at the enemy (13:23-15:30). Faces of American soldiers. PBR Patrol boats on a river. Soldiers walk around, a small fire is nearby. A soldier climbs to get a better vantage point (15:31-17:28). Soldiers near a hut. Baby chickens. U.S. soldiers interrogate Vietnamese civilians. A Vietnamese man is kicked by a soldier (17:29-18:48). At 17:52, soldiers burn a hut. U.S. Soldiers walk in high grass. A dazed Vietnamese man on the ground. A woman is led by U.S. Soldiers. Vietnamese people are grabbed and pushed around by the soldiers. A South Vietnamese soldier seems to be assisting the Americans (18:49-20:15). African American U.S. soldiers inspect tall grass, probably looking for an arms cache or someone hiding in the grass. The men kick at the grass and point. They find paraphernalia (20:16-21:38).
