Dating from some time in the mid-to-late 1940s, this home movie shows scenes of Lima, Ohio and the Soap Box Derby races. The guest of honor this particular year was President Harry S. Truman (or possibly, Vice President Truman), who appears in his famous hat at the 45 second mark. You will also see him in other places in the film, greeting the winners of the race. He also is seen at the 5:50 mark aboard a train, probably doing a whistle stop campaign.
At the 6:40 mark the film shows a DC-3 parked at an airport, with various crew shown. At the 7:30 mark you will see a circus parade with a calliope, horses, elephants and more. This is the Cole Brothers Circus.
