76854 WWII PROPAGANDA FILM ” MR. BLABBERMOUTH”

MR. BLABBERMOUTH is an American documentary film by Basil Wrangell. The 19 minute short was created by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, with the support of the United States Office of War Information produced. It shows the homefront of the danger of spreading rumors.

The film is about “Mr. Blabbermouth ” or ” Mr. Chatterbox “, represented by different people who spread rumors during the Second World War and so endanger the morals. For example, that the US fleet to attack on Pearl Harbor was on the ground or could produce much more steel the Japanese. The film focuses on the allegations against the winning numbers. He also shows how the Americans on the home front to produce rubber.

The next rumor that the Japanese and the Nazis would already trimmed from childhood to war and the Americans could not compete as a peace-loving people. The speaker will show how the peace-loving nation which Chinese revolts against the Japanese invaders, converted its armaments industry of one day to another and to Sun Tzu remember. This is followed by the Russian troops fighting bravely against Nazi Germany.

It follows, this time a woman as a “chatterbox” who suspected a family, something “to make”. The Federal Bureau of Investigation had had three years as opposed to France and Norway to prepare for internal conflicts. In addition, the traitors were pure amateurs in the United States. This story begins with Mr. Blabbermouth, a man who made a name for himself during the “dark times” in Los Angeles. Some of the footage highlight include: At mark 00:55, the blackout in L.A., after been commanded to put off light and automobiles.

At mark 01:52, we see Mr. Blabbermouth spouting ideas about the US navy, instilling fear in the public.

At mark 05:58, we have scrap parts from junkyard been processed into tones of steel. The USA is producing 400,000 tonnes annually while the Japanese is producing 24,000 tonnes. At mark 06:44, we have the oil comparison.

At mark 07:22, we have a couple developing the muscle they haven’t used for years due to insufficient gas for their automobiles which affect the public.

At mark 07:35, we have the production of synthetic rubber which had supplemented for the automobiles.

At mark 08:14, here blabber mouth turns to another rumour. At mark 09:10, the war between the China and the Japanese is shown.

At mark 10:47, we see the FBI, rounding up fifth columnists and spies.

At 13:14, the submarine Turtle is seen, as well as ironclad monitors that fought in WWII. Innovative American weapons including tanks and planes, jeeps and snowmobiles are seen.
