Narrated by Richard Baseheart, TEN SECONDS THAT SHOOK THE WORLD is a factual and chronological account of the events preceding the atomic bombing of Hiroshima during World War II and the significant effect of the atomic bomb on peacetime projects and events of the atomic age. It features all the major players in the birth of the atomic age from Marie Curie to Albert Einstein to Enrico Fermi, Robert Oppenheimer, Edward Teller, Leo Szilard, President Truman, and more. It includes footage of the Enola Gay and its mission to bomb Hiroshima.

The film was criticized for sanitizing the decision to drop the bomb on Hiroshima and the fact that it ignores the second bombing at Nagasaki altogether.
