75774 THE HISTORY OF U.S. FOREIGN RELATIONS PART 2 1850-1910

Made by the U.S. Department of State as part of “The History of U.S. Foreign Relations” series in 1972, this episode is titled FROM YOUTH TO MATURITY. It traces the development of United States foreign relations from the Monroe Doctrine to the participation of the United States in The Hague conferences of the early twentieth century. The film also includes a discussion of Commodore Perry’s voyage to Japan, which opened that country to the West. The documentary also shows how United States’ policy reflected America’s growth from the status of a small and weak nation to its position as a world industrial power. This is one in a series of four film intended to serve as contribution to the Bicentennial by the State Dept. The film was directed by Paul Auerswald.
