This USAF News Review dates to the 1950s and shows President Ike Eisenhower arriving on Air Force One (“Columbine”) to visit the new U.S. Air Force Academy. At the two minute mark, a Thor IRBM site is shown in mock-up, with missile men students seeing how the entire system works including a full scale launch of a missile. Also shown: Clark AFB television broadcasting a puppet show in the Philippines for Air Force kids (check out the old time TV cameras and broadcast studio in use!) A weather rocket is shown being tested at the Air Force Missile Development Center at 5 minutes. At the six minute mark, a group of men are shown planning an exhibit about the X-15 Rocket Plane at the Museum of the USAF. At 7 minutes, the USAF Photographic Center at Orlando Air Force Base is shown with a water skiing pageant. Next, an exhibit called the World Flight Congress is shown at Las Vegas, with an Atlas Missile on display as well as a Project Mercury capsule and other aircraft models and mock-ups. This includes a flight demonstration by B-52 bombers, a B-58 Hustler, a C-130 Hercules, RAF Vulcan bomber, the Chinese Thundertigers and USAF Thunderbirds as well as other acrobatic teams are shown.
