This World War II film dates from 1942 and shows how colleges across America were preparing students in support of the World War II effort. It shows a bygone era where being patriotic was something important. It includes footage of the University of Texas, Texas A&M, Dartmouth College, Cornell, UC Berkeley, and Purdue University. Includes many different shots of ROTC units and auxiliary formations, and shots of African American and female students taking on new roles for the war effort. Many men are shown in the military and in college at the same time. Among the war related classes and activities shown are: farm labor, mechanical engineering, International relations, world languages, chemical weapons preparations, aviation, wartime nutrition, radio broadcast in Spanish to Latin America to further “understanding of the United Nations cause”, cryptography and codes, celestial navigation and various war industrial related training.
