Created in 1957, “A California Tour” is one of Castle Film’s rare color travelogues. It features vintage images of national parks such as Yosemite and the Redwoods as well as major cities. This includes Los Angeles, Monterey, San Francisco, Santa Barbara and more. There are shots of Los’ Angeles Westlake Park, Laguna Beach, Olvera Street, freeways, the intersection of Hollywood and Vine, and the Chinese Theater. The Brown Derby Restaurant is seen around 4:45. San Francisco images include Market Street and the Ferry Building, Fisherman’s Wharf, Chinatown, Cable Cars, the Golden Gate and Oakland Bay Bridges, and views of the City by the Bay.
