71262 POST WWII HOME MOVIES OF BOMB SHATTERED GERMANY

Shot in 1949, these long-lost color home movies show Germany in the aftermath of WWII. Some of the cities shown include Dresden, which was leveled by Allied bombs, and Heidelberg. The agony and destruction visible in these images is sometimes hard to watch, but there are also signs of hope. The film includes a train trip to a shattered terminal, and many shots of debris clearing, stabilization and reconstruction efforts. The film ends with a trip high into the Alps. (Please help us identify other cities and locations seen in the film by leaving a comment below).

What might be a wood-burning car appears at the 13:12:10 mark.
